Bunny Season

This bunny's cabbage pot needs some spring flowers in it. Unfortunately, it's not my bunny so I can't make that happen. I do admire the little critter though.

Where'd It Go?

Here's my most recent photo of Josie. Notice anything different about her? All her long fur is gone. Click here to see my previous pictures of her. It's all fallen out. She's not a long-haired cat anymore. Her shorter hair is very healthy looking and the colors are very rich. I'd be worried about her except that her new fur looks so healthy. I'm wondering if she shed her winter coat and this is a new summer coat. Does anyone know if Persians do this? I have had long-haired cats before (but not a Persian) but none that ever lost their hair so dramatically. This is new to me. I think she's still cute but she doesn't look much like the kitty I brought home.

Spring Came Early

I know everyone is probably tired of hearing about all the warm weather we've been having throughout the Midwest and east coast but I just had to post this collage of pictures to document the very early spring we're having. Here it is, just the second day of spring, and trees and flowers are blooming that we typically don't see for another 4 weeks or so. I took a walk with my ELPH camera this afternoon, in the 85F heat, and grabbed a few pictures of what spring looks like in my neighborhood. It wasn't forecast to get quite that warm or I would have walked earlier in the day. But I'm  NOT complaining. I truly enjoy the warm weather. I'll be sad to see the weather start cooling down tomorrow.

Happy Spring!

Springtime Sunset

No two Lake Michigan sunsets are ever the same. Sometimes there are clouds, other times not. The colors can be amazingly different from one day to the next. Waves, silhouettes, angle of the sun... all contribute to uniquely different experiences of the sun setting. This evening, it was a blue sunset. I see these more often in the spring than at any other time of the year.

A Gull's Happy Dance

With so many people out and about on the beach during these very warm days, the seagulls are doing a happy dance. More people means more food and more scraps for them.

Happy First Day of Spring!

So it's finally official. For me spring begins March 1st, the meteorological first day of spring. But for lots of folks, it's the spring equinox that matters. As far as Mother Nature is concerned, we skipped spring and went right to summer, lol! The weather has been record-setting warm for a over a week now and flowers and trees are starting to bloom all over the place. :-) I grabbed this shot of some sort of fruit tree on the Notre Dame campus last Saturday. Oh so pretty.

Blarney!

Did ya see that green sunset on St Patrick's Day? Yes indeed, Lake O'Michigan was lookin' mighty fine!

Happy St Patrick's Day!

I spent St Patrick's Day in the land of the "Fighting Irish", on the University of Notre Dame campus. It was a lovely day, unbelievably warm for mid March... in the upper 70s. It was my first time to the campus and I must say it is beautiful and it's HUGE! Walked for an hour, stopping to take some pics along the way, but couldn't make it across the whole campus and back in that time. Spring was definitely in evidence with flowers blooming, grass greening up, and lots of buds on the trees. A picture perfect day.

Hector

This is my daughter's other cat, Hector. He's the mischief maker. He's been known to snitch Socrates' food on more than one occasion. And he doesn't believe the counter tops are off limits either. But just look at those gorgeous green eyes. Handsome guy if you ask me!

Socrates

This is Socrates, one of my daughter's cats. He's the passive, cuddly one. He's a real beauty, isn't he? The soft focus and vignette filters are from the new version (3.9) of Picasa. It's so fun to play with filters!

I have shamefully neglected my "Project 52 - Pets" project. I totally forgot about it. Looking back, I haven't posted a pet pic since Feb. 11. Yeesh! I'll have to see if I can make up for that somewhere along the line. ;-)

Dunes on a Winter's Day

You can almost feel the chill just looking at this picture of the dunes in St Joseph. It's hard to imagine but in just 12 weeks it will be Memorial Weekend! The warm temps will have warmed the dune sand and all the snow and ice will be melted. The trees will be full of leaves and hopefully the sun will be shining just as brightly on all the beach lovers who will come to town to enjoy the beginning of summer. :-)

Cold Weather Fishing

I got a kick out of the way the guy in foreground was fishing... laying down with his head covered, taking a snooze. I'm always amazed by those who will brave the very cold elements to try to catch fish. Is it worth it? Really?

Icy Cold Sunset

The last time I was in St Joseph, it still very much looked and felt like winter. I hope  I can return soon to find lots of signs of spring!
