Wings in the Hood II

The butterfly bush is blooming and the butterflies are back! I've seen several swallowtails but surprisingly I've not seen any monarchs. Perhaps they are yet to come.

Wings in the Hood

Well, the water theme didn't work out last week. I'll come back at it again soon. The bird feeder is now a popular place in the neighborhood. Our most frequent visitors are sparrows but we get our share of finches and cardinals as well.

Keeping' Cool in the Pool

This is the pool where I like to hang out all summer long (no, that's not me in the picture). I like to get into Lake Michigan too but that picture is for another day.

Watering the Crops

This week's theme is water. In spite of the 100+ degree temps we've been having this summer (including today) you can still find lots of images of cool refreshing water. This image was actually taken yesterday evening but I was just too tired to download it last night. Considerate it yesterday's submission for the purposes of this week's theme. The earth and crops are so dry that I'm told farmers are watering 24/7.

Saturday Sunset

This evening wasn't just cloudy and threatening rain like yesterday. We actually got rain for about 20 minutes an hour or so before sunset. Yeah! We sure needed it. Once again I doubted if we'd see the sunset over the lake but we did. And with this photo my sunset theme for the week ends. I'm very pleased to have gotten pics for 7 straight days. What a beautiful summer we're having in Michigan!

Friday Sunset

I had my doubts about seeing a sunset this evening because of the rain clouds in the area. But I got lucky and was able to get a few pics. We didn't actually get any rain here but we could see it across the lake in the Chicago area.

Thursday Sunset

Lots of folks were on the bluff watching the sunset this evening. It was a gorgeous evening to be doing so!

Wednesday Sunset

In spite of how hot it looks in this photo it was actually pretty cool on the pier. Not a lot of activity going on this evening, no sailboats, few fishermen, even fewer swimmers.

Tuesday Sunset

Can you hear the roar of the sun kissed waves? It was quite a breezy evening at the lakeshore, refreshingly cool too. The was a moderate risk of rip currents today so understandably not many in the water. Water temp: 80F. :-)

Monday Sunset

If it's Monday it must be beach volleyball night at Silver Beach. These folks were having a ball! Such energy... such enthusiasm... such youth! ;-) They finished the game up just as the sun was setting.

Sunday Sunset

It's Sunday night and the start of a new week. The theme for this week is, Lake Michigan Sunsets! The forecast is for a solid week of sunny days so hopefully I will get some great sunset pics. Here is this evening's sunset from Tiscornia Beach. There was a good wind and some great waves making for a nice dramatic picture. I love it! I might even print this one and frame it for my wall.

Arrrr, Matey!

Only in St Joseph, the little town with lots of patriotism, will you find a red, white, and blue pirate. This one is standing guard at the corner of Elm and State Streets. He's just one of the collection of street art appearing around town.

Red, White, and Cool

Whew! It's a hot one! This is one way to keep cool in St Joseph. Doesn't it look refreshing? In keeping with my red, white, and blue theme this week you can see the flags in background.

Red, White, and Blue On Sale

A lovely seasonal display table from yesterday's Antiques On The Bluff sale in Lake Bluff Park. I wish I would have bought that sailboat. I have the perfect place for I think of that! ;-7

Lest We Forget

In honor of the Fourth of July, this week's theme is "red, white, and blue". Starting things off we have a paratrooper bringing in the American flag to open the "Lest We Forget" WWII Reenactment. This was an awesome and not to be repeated event on Tiscornia Beach in St Joseph, held yesterday.
