Day 89, Russian Icon

From the Russian Icon exhibit at the Krasl Art Center.

  1. The exhibit near you is featuring pieces from the Museum of Russian Icons which is only a couple of towns away from me! Wow! I've never been to the museum. I keep thinking I need to go. Now I'm sure of it. Did you enjoy the exhibit? I hear the museum is wonderful.

  2. The exhibit was amazing. The icons were amazing. The detail with which the icons were painted will simply take your breath away. They were so intricately painted you'll swear they were done with the tips of sewing needles. What a shame they were ordered to be destroyed by the government after the Russian Revolution. There are only a relatively few of them left. Such beautiful craftsmanship!

  3. I will definitely have to get to the museum! I'm so glad you were able to see this exhibit. My husband's dad comes from an Orthodox background, so my husband would probably be interested as well. It is wonderful that this collection has been preserved and available for so many people to enjoy.

I love the way you highlight the color next to the black and white!
