Day 27, Cat Nappin'

The DPS theme for this week is "sleep". This is really easy for me because I have 2 subjects who will model for me anytime, no appointment necessary. If it weren't for the monster snow storm we're forecast to have in a couple days I would have gladly taken on the theme of "sleep" every day this week. However, I am hoping to have some good photos of the "snowdown in Motown" to share come Wednesday.

Day 25, A Romp in the Snow

It was a gloomy but relatively mild day today, a perfect day for a visit to the park. Here are the guys having a romp in the snow.

Day 24, Love Is In The Air

I got a nice series of photos this evening, any one of which could be my photo of the day. I can't choose. Which will it be???

1. Everything's coming up roses

2. Cafe of goodies

3. Sweet, luscious hot chocolate

4. Keyboard comes alive

5. Chocolate Eruption

6. "I'd rather fall in chocolate"

7. I want one of everything!

8. I can bearly contain my love for you...

9. Love on a plate

10. Roses are red...

Day 22, "I have very THICK beauty!"

My desk calendar. (One of them) I can really relate to this cartoon because I have really thick beauty too. ;-)

Day 21, I Wonder What He's Thinking...

I caught my Kaj guy in a pensive mood this morning. I wonder what he was thinking about... maybe the dogs he hung out with at the dog park on Sunday. He's a fun but tricky dog to photograph. It's difficult to get his chocolate brown fur to come out right in pictures. This pic comes pretty close to what he looks like when the sun is shining directly on him. Most of the time he looks a little darker than this.

Day 20, All Tuckered Out

I told myself I wouldn't load my Project 365 with a bunch of images of our dog and cat but sometimes you just have to go with what images present themselves. The DPS theme this week is "tired" and that's just what Vladi was when I snapped this picture. He had been grooming himself and then he sort of let out a sigh and just slumped like this. I couldn't resist!

Day 19, Sun and Ice

Woke up to brilliant sunshine this morning and I knew in an instant what I had to do. Back to the Plymouth Ice Festival I went! The sun on the ice sculptures was simply beautiful.

Day 18, Havin' a Ball on a Cold Winter's Night

It was a wickedly cold evening to be out taking pictures but I braved the frigid temps to grab a few quick pics. This colorful piece was on exhibit at the Plymouth Ice Festival. I have no idea what it's supposed to be but I love the colors and the shape. It looks like it's havin' a ball on a cold winter's night! ;-)

Day 17, And Then There Was Sun

After many days of gloomy skies, the sun finally showed itself today. Yay! It is brutally cold outside with daytime high temperatures predicted to reach only 14F and wind chills in the single digits. Brrrr! But I couldn't resist the opportunity to get out for a short drive and grab some pics. This one was taken along the Rouge River in Northville. I love the contrast of the warm amber tones of the leaves against the cool icy blue tones of the shadows and the river below. Gotta love sun roofs... I took this picture from the comfortable 72F temp in my truck without having to brave the elements. Momma didn't raise no fool! {grin}

Day 16, Macro Smacro

I'm not very good at macro photography but that's the DPS theme this week. So I have to have a token macro photo for my project. Here it is. I put my camera on the macro setting and snapped this picture of my dinner vegetables (courtesy of Boston Market ;-) The haze on the lower left is condensation on my lens from the heat of the steamed veggies. The veggies were very good, by the way!

Day 15, One Late Night Diner

Had dinner with my friend Karen at Red Lobster. After dinner we talked for hours over coffee. As I was leaving I grabbed this shot of one late night diner seated in Red Lobster's lounge.

Day 14, Chicken Soup for my Soul

It was a day of cold, cold rain and gloomy skies. Unfortunately, I had to be out in the elements, shopping. On a day like this, there's nothing like a bowl of hot chicken soup to warm up the innards!

Day 13, Awww, What a Cutie!

My mother-in-law just adopted a new kitty. He's about 5 months old and his name is Sandy. I just had to stop by to welcome him to the family and take his picture. He's a real bundle of cute!

Day 12, A Star is Born

I wasn't going to post another duck picture because I just did that last week but Mr. Mallard (lower left of center) was doing everything he could to try to get my attention so that I would make him a star. I just couldn't resist!

The sun was playing peek-a-boo all morning and it took a good deal of patience to wait for it to come out so I could get this picture. I think it was worth the wait. :-)

Day 11, Breakfast at the Farm

Breakfast is served at Twelve Gables Farm! We drove by these lovely steeds and I couldn't resist snapping a picture of them all dressed up in their winter finery. The palomino paused from eating just long enough for me to grab this pic.

Day 10, Lunch with the Girls

There's nothing like indulging in a sweet treat while talking genealogy at lunch with the girls. Met with Valerie and Kamila at the Grand Traverse Pie Company today. Yum! and Yeah!

Day 9, Remembering Ben

Sometimes what stands out in your day is a sad moment. This evening I attended the funeral home visitation of my neighbor Ben Duckworth who died unexpectedly on January 8th. Rest in peace, Ben. I hope there are lots of doughnuts in heaven!

Day 8, A New Era for Michigan Football

It's the day we Michigan fans have been waiting for, the naming of a new head football coach. I liked what I heard from Brady Hoke. I hope this means good things for the Michigan football program! GO BLUE!

Day 7, Where the Magic Happens

This is it. This is where the magic happens, my office. This is where I do the bulk of my genealogy research, create my digital scrapbook pages, write many, many blog posts, and where I used to design websites. The bookcase is full of genealogy, Polish, Detroit, and Michigan books. A week ago you couldn't see the tops of my desk and vertical file cabinet. I still can't show you the other side of the room ;-)

Day 6, It's No Fun Without You

I tried to tempt my Vladi cat to play by himself so I could get some work done. He looked at the toy mice and then stared up at me... "It's no fun without you. Won't you play with me?"

Day 5, Saving Lives, One Flight at a Time

University of Michigan's Survival Flight helicopter taking off from the Ann Arbor airport. Boy, when those chopper blades get going the wind they create really pummels you! It was a very cold morning to begin with and brutally cold when I was taking this photo, lol!

Day 4, A Cold But Beautiful Morning

I took so many great photos today I had a hard time deciding on just one. This pic of the Rouge River was taken with the lovely morning sun shining on freshly fallen snow.

Day 3, Dinner at Carrabba's

Dinner at Carrabba's this evening. Entree of choice: Trout Nocciola (lightly breaded with hazelnuts) and garlic mashed potatoes. Yum!

Day 2, Ducks in the Snow

While running errands today, I stopped to grab this shot of some mallard ducks enjoying the freshly fallen snow in Hines Park. Are they as impatient for spring as I am?

Day 1, A Clean Desk

I cleaned off the top of my desk today. It's the first time I've seen this much of the surface in ages! One step in the direction of a less cluttered life.

Jasia's Project 365

I heard about Project 365 some time ago and ever since then I've been wanting to give it a try. The concept is a simple one, take and post one picture every day for 365 days. It becomes a visual diary of one year of your life. I'm told it makes you a better photographer as you strive to find something interesting to photograph every day. Sounds good to me!

The key to this project is to keep doing it every day. There will be days when I'm busy, days when I'm tired, days when I just don't want to be bothered. I'm going to try to snap a picture anyway. I may not post the photos each day, in fact I think once the novelty wears off it will probably be more like once a week or so. But hopefully I'll be able to take a photograph every day. Want to see where life takes me this year? Stay tuned! (And don't hesitate to leave me some words of encouragement now and then!)
